Keep Smoke Detectors Active

Smoke detectors save lives by notifying people of fire in the home but it can leads to tragedy when they aren’t working properly.

It is important to put smoke detectors in the right places in your home. It is advised that smoke detectors should be installed outside each bedroom and sleeping area, and on each level of your home. Be noticed that installing them near kitchens or bathrooms can cause false alarms due to the high humidity level.

Smoke detectors don’t last forever and they should be replaced every ten years from the date of manufacture, which can usually be found on the detectors.

Some detectors are powered by batteries that required replacing every year. (Picture shown below)

Don’t wait, check the date! Keeping smoke detectors in a good working condition lowers your family’s risk of fire-related injury.
